About the Chef

From the early age of fourteen, Chef Robert Bahm was captivated by the sights, smells and excitement of the kitchen. Armed with an insatiable appetite for culinary excellence, Robert began cutting his teeth in nearby country clubs and fine dining restaurants, where he learned the restaurant business from the bottom up. Finding his life’s calling, he enrolled in the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, refining his palate and embarking on a lifelong passion in the culinary arts. It was while attending the CIA that Roberts’s passion for food was enhanced and refined. He continued his career in New York where he studied under several renowned chefs until he was offered a remarkable opportunity to work near Philadelphia with Jean François Taquet, at the award winning Taquet Restaurant. Here he served dinners for such notables as Diane Sawyer and President Bill Clinton. Most recently, he was the influential Executive Chef at Bryce’s Catering in Wynnewood, PA. His culinary success can be attributed to his passionate and flavorful cuisine, raising the bar for catering in the Philadelphia area, and created a reputable brand that is sought after by the most influential clients.

Now, Robert brings his decades of experience and eclectic style to the Phoenixville area with his debut restaurant, Becca’s, named after his strongest culinary influence… his daughter.

Decades in the kitchen have taught me so much about myself, my style and what is really important to me. I have been so fortunate to make a living from my passion, and now I get to combine my two greatest loves…. food and family.

-Chef Robert Bahm .

Reviewed Offer Daddy Mims Creole BYOB (150 Bridge St., 610-935-1800) is a candlelit bistro decorated simply with assorted, framed mirrors. When you think of all the time that restaurateurs spend dithering over this and that when it comes to opening a restaurant, know that Mims got the keys on a Monday and opened on a Friday. It occupies a former Italian restaurant. In the other half of the space, he's planning Johnny's New Orleans Pizza Kitchen.

Reviewed The food was fantatic! The service was very good, although the wait staff could be a little more knowledgeable about the items on the menu. The bourbon pecan pie for dessert was to die for! Would definitely dine here again. Prices were reasonable.

Bull Tavern" On Valley Forge Road 1 Mile E. of Phoenixville, PA

Historical Old Tavern Since 1734 "Bull Tavern" Location: On Valley Forge Road 1 mile E. of Phoenixville, PA In the peaceful and altogether beautiful Schuylkill Valley, stands a unique, historic tavern, still open for the reception of travelers and guests, even as it was in those days, when the early settlers were sent to congregate there, for business, diversion or share good fellowship, over steaming toddy. According to Pennypacker's history of Phoenixville and vicinity, William Moore built the first public house in the vicinity in the year 1734 - The "Bull" tavern and for a long time it was the only place at which travelers whom curiosity or business brought to this vicinity could find accommodations. A small building at first, with two rooms. It remained as such until enlarged by Samuel Lane. Many years later (1843) Sampson Fudge made additional beneficial changes. This is another of those "Rare" - old time taverns, whose venerable existence is proclaimed to a somewhat skeptical public by the sight of the original sign still hanging at the "Bull" tavern in a wonderful state of preservation. After an existence for more than two hundred years - this old house should be accorded special honors, for the "Bull" tavern is frequently mentioned in English Histories of the revolution, and if we could with some limitless power, call up past scenes, what a tale of interesting and historic incidents would be available. Stand today in this old hostelry, and visualize: - It will perhaps have that soothing effect which sometimes is present when we contact old, venerated things - and so these very floors have been trodden by the moccasined feet of tribal Indian chiefs, who perchance with misgivings - watched encroachment upon their land by the "Pale Face."
